Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Please give yourself extra time before our session to clean and prepare your horse. We schedule out enough time for all our sessions but do have multiple different locations and barns we shoot at on trips. Because of this, we ask that you’re ready to start promptly at our specified session time, all prep work and grooming should be done before we arrive.

  • Most equine sessions take place at your barn, where your horse is located. Having your session in a place where your horse is comfortable can make the whole experience much more enjoyable and relaxed. If you wish to haul to a different or secondary location, I would be happy to travel there as long as it’s safe for you and your horse.

Family and canine sessions can take place at your barn, home, or secondary location.

  • Travel fees may apply depending on location. With trips out of state, we charge a flat fee for all clients to cover travel and accommodation. All travel fees will be discussed prior to booking and due along with the session retainer fee.

  • All pictures are delivered in an online gallery which allows you to download the images directly to your computer or mobile device.

  • While tips are not required or expected, they’re always appreciated. Tipping is a great way to show your appreciation for our time and the work we put into every session.

  • We do offer an equine + canine session option, all photos are taken separately and edited together for the horse and dog’s safety!

  • Want all natural photos but don’t trust your horse to stand loose? We offer my invisible halter, which is essentially a very thin rope halter that I can easily edit out for equine portrait sessions.

  • We love when our clients post on social media! We do ask that you only post watermarked images, as laid out in the session contract. All galleries come with social media rights, printing rights are available for purchase, except mini sessions. Picture credit isn’t necessary but always appreciated, if you'd like to credit us, tag @daniellevargophotography on instagram or Danielle Vargo Photography on Facebook.

  • All subjects (horse, human, or dog) must have their own session unless stated differently for a specific session type.

  • Our goal with every session is to make it a comfortable and fun experience for both horse and owner! Being relaxed on camera can be hard and if you’ve never had a photoshoot before it can be scary. With that being said, the most important thing is to have fun with your horse!

We always recommend preparing your horse as if you were going into the show ring with a nice halter or bridle. Braiding is not required but does look amazing in the more detailed equine portrait or black background shots. We recommend either a ride, lunge, or turnout before the session to get rid of any nervous energy your horse might have. A relaxed, clean, and polished horse always translates beautifully on camera.

  • We offer white backgrounds as an add on to any equine or canine session but not as a stand alone option, see our equine portrait page for more information on white backgrounds.

  • Retouching and editing are a huge part of every session. We can touch up almost anything including; scars, fungus, scratches, and more. We always edit these out free of charge. Please make sure your horse is clean and well turned out as we can’t edit out a dirty coat or piece of tack.

  • All images are delivered fully edited and further editing is not permitted, as laid out in the session contract. We work extremely hard to capture and edit every photo and ask that you don’t add any filters to the finished images.

  • Equine portraits can be taken outside with or without tack. This option is for those who want beautiful natural equine photos but don’t want to be in them. This option also includes liberty shots which can be taken in any turnout or outdoor space where your horse can be loose, nothing is more beautiful than a horse in motion!

  • For all black background sessions, I require a barn aisle or garage with a large enough opening that the subject can comfortably stand inside the open door.

  • We accept several forms of payment. Cash or Check are preferred, however, we do accept online payment (Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal) with a service fee. A small retainer and travel fee (if applied) may be due upon booking and the rest of the session fee will be required immediately following the session.

  • We work with every client to make sure they get the exact pictures they want. We love when clients have an idea of what they want and will always adjust our sessions, within reason, to fit those desires. Group shots of multiple horses are available with most sessions. For group black backgrounds, all horses are shot separately and edited together after the session for an additional fee. Group shots are an amazing way to show off your string of horses, I’ve edited up to 8 horses together and there’s always room for more!

  • Canine sessions can be a lot of fun! Getting your dog ready for their session is super important. A tired dog is a happy dog! I always recommend lots of exercise a few hours before a session to get rid of any nervous and excited energy. Please give your pup enough time after exercise to calm down before our session and make sure your dog is clean and well groomed. These photos can be done at your barn, house, or secondary location (i.e. a park or trailhead).
